I finished up the morning by doing a quick drive around Holmes Lake and happened upon this guy and he was not at all threatened by me being near by. God is such an amazing creator!

Kris and I went out this morning to Stagecoach and Wagon Train State Recreation areas and were blessed to see lots of different types of birds, the robin was actually in Kris's tree in her front yard.

Mackinaw Transportation
It is hard to believe that it has been a year already since we planned Dan's parents 60th anniversary trip to Mackinaw Island.

Barn of Kansas in "Golden Pond"
I different kind of pond but still golden! The barns and farms in Kansas remind me of when we lived in Illinois, they are much closer to the main roads and much easier to access. We will be spending lots of time exploring the off and beaten paths of Kansas now that the kids are relocating to Fort Riley.
Stonehaven 1857
This barn is made from the native stone found in the flint hills of Kansas and it is being added to the historic registry. The owners have had the farm since 1985 and are only the third owners. Rumor has it that it was used by both sides during the civil war to treat the wounded soldiers but that has not been officially verified.

New Technique Try
I have a Facebook friend who does beautiful post processing of her images using lots of textures and brushes in layers. She recently forwarded a link to a "great sale" on some and you might say the rest is history. I think I enjoy the post processing almost as much as the photography, I think it is the creative aspect the really appeals to me. This image has 5 different textures applied. Now I really want to learn how to make my own textures and brushes. I am going to have to live to be 875 to learn everything I would like!

Vintage Bouquet
My first attempt of using textures that were not part of a preset. I only applied one using it in PSE 11, I think I could become easily addicted to them.

Big Ol' Green Barn
Coming home from Kansas City through Kansas we seen a lot of interesting old barns. I love the colorful green of this one.
Closed for the Season
Old gas station in eastern Kansas we came across coming home from Kansas City. Sure wish I could of gotten inside, looked like there were promising treasurers.
