It's always interesting to me when we travel some of the back roads on our trips to see what a appears to be an abandoned, run down house or farm but will have an active mailbox. I wonder if there really is someone living there, are they just using it as a mailing address or if there are shenanigans going on that we don't want to know about or to get too close.

Old Car City USA
Our vacation a couple of weeks ago included going to Old Car City USA in White, Georgia. Their claim was to have 34 acres of rusty, crusty, patina covered cars, trucks and other modes of transportation, predominately American made. We were a little disappointed in it once we got there, I think they need to measure their property again and a lot of the vehicles were really stripped of features we wanted to photograph. We still had an enjoyable day but I do have to say I will never, the Lord willing be moving south with all that humidity!

The Baker Hotel
We happened upon this grand old hotel on our way home and wish so badly that we could of gotten inside. The hotel was put on the historical registry and there are plans for restoring it. We will definitely book a room when and of they get it done! http://www.thebakerhotel.com/

Barn of Kansas in "Golden Pond"
I different kind of pond but still golden! The barns and farms in Kansas remind me of when we lived in Illinois, they are much closer to the main roads and much easier to access. We will be spending lots of time exploring the off and beaten paths of Kansas now that the kids are relocating to Fort Riley.

Country Roads
Hmm...
Sometimes God just wants us to go without knowing what lies over the hill, just trust Him
I went for a drive the other morning to just unwind and let God show me what, if anything, He would have me photograph. It has been quite awhile since I felt inspired to shoot, the peace hasn't been there but God was so good to me today. These might not be inspiration for anyone else but this is what speaks to me.

Rust in the Details
Another fantastic day with Kris, out at the farm, capturing images of the beautiful and forgotten rusty trucks and cars.

Rusty Heaven
Kris took me to her family farm and I was in heaven!!! It was sensory overload but boy did I have fun, the sun shine warming up the beautiful rust and patina just made my heart go pitter patter.

Rusty Art
Coming home from our vacation and in western Tennessee we came upon these beauties!
I was so excited to see all the rust and character that these old trucks had. I wonder what they were used for and the stories they could tell.
Not sure why but these look much sharper when you click on the photo!?
