My 1st Self Made Texture

I am intrigued with all the textures that are available and have wanted to learn to make my own.  I found a tutorial and gave it a try in PSE.

Color Orange

In our photo forum we are given a color for each month to use as an inspiration, last months color was orange but I didn't get any photos done.  Cathy and I went to the Lauritzen Gardens and they had a gourd display and I decided better late than never.  This just reaffirms that I need to save my nickels for the 100L Macro with IS!

Lauritzen Gardens Part 2

A few more of some of the plants on display, they look to pretty to be poisonous.

Lauritzen Gardens Part 1

Kris and I went to the Gardens to see their "Wicked" plants display.  What an interesting display of plants, some were flesh eating (Venus Flytrap), poisonous or very prickly.  What a blessing to have such a wonderful botanical garden so close.

Lauritzen Gardens - Sculpture Open House

I can't say I this is an art form that speaks to me but the gardens were beautiful.  I was so disappointed in that they were to have people from Madame Butterfly in costumes mingling with the guests, we saw two people and the costumes were lame!  I shot these on manual which I plan on trying more so I can understand the always elusive triangle of photography better.

Lauritzen Gardens

Kris and I went to the gardens for my birthday and to practice with my 70-200.  We worked on isolation and dof.  I was like a drunk sailor on a ship trying to balance with the monopod, focus with the backbutton and pushing the shutter in one fluid move. NOT!  We then went to Blair for the yummiest tacos ever, it was a wonderful day!

The end of 2010 at the Lauritzen Gardens - Omaha Botanical Center

Dan and I went to the Gardens to practice using our cameras.  What a beautiful place to practice, went ahead a got a membership as I am sure I will be making several trips there.  The Christmas display was still up but next month they will feature a Tropical Paradise, looking forward to seeing that.
