An Appealing Portrait
Our inspiration point this week at photo forum was flash photography, not so much inspiration for me but a great time for me to practice my word of the year and be "bold" and try new things, do not compare and be adventuresome. I am ok with the photo but frustrated in the lack of understanding of what I am doing but will continue to practice and learn. I bounced my gridded off camera flash off of the ceiling and added light painting through the viewfinder to highlight the orange.
Squaw Creek
Made a trip to Squaw Creek last week with Cathy who had never been there and had a fantastic day filled with sunshine and warmer temperatures and lots of laughing. Not as much bird activity as we were hoping for but it was just so nice to be out in the fresh air with my camera in hand. The eagles were not too plentifully but the trumpeter swan numbers were great and still a fair amount of snow geese.

Love Letter or Junk Mail?
Around 2004 I read a devotion and for the life of me I can not find where I saved it, I think it was on my old laptop that has long since went to laptop heaven. I can not remember who wrote it but it has stayed with me all these years. I have over time been saving stories, devotions and songs that have spoken to me and hope to someday be able to capture photos that will enhance these words of wisdom and then have it made into a book, this is one of those devotion.
It was about how do we treat the Word of God. Do we cherish it, treasure the words, get thrilled to read it just like we would a love letter from our Dearly Beloved or do we toss it on the table like the junk mail? I have all my cards, letters and notes from Dan, some tied up in beautiful ribbon, why would I treat the love letters from the God who loved me enough to die for me with any less devotion?

"BOLD"
I have never really thought of choosing a word for the year but after reading several other bloggers where they have done this it got me to thinking about it and after much thought I have decided that for 2016 my word would be "BOLD"
This year I want to step outside my comfort zone in life and my photography. I don't want to worry or compare my life or photos to others, I do not want to live for praise or accolades. I want all that I do be for the glory of God and to learn what that looks like and where he would have me go.
adjective: bold; comparative adjective: bolder; superlative adjective: boldest
1.
(of a person, action, or idea) showing an ability to take risks; confident and courageous.
"a bold attempt to solve the crisis"
